The Lakehouse – Cameron Highlands reopens for business

Travel News Asia 28 June 2005

Managed by Singapore-based hospitality management company HPL Hotels & Resorts, The Lakehouse – Cameron Highlands, located on the north-western part of the state of Pahang, Malaysia’s largest and most popular hill retreat, has reopened for business after the completion of one and half months of renovation.

The Lakehouse – Cameron Highlands

A heritage of Malaysia’s colonial past, The Lakehouse is a Tudor-style country house decorated in old world charm interiors of plush carpets and antique furnishings. With the renovation, all its 18 rooms and suites furnished with four-poster beds have been refurbished with new plush floral carpets in a soft beige shade, matching  country-style draperies and warm beige lampshades that enhance the rooms with a warm and cosy atmosphere. Added amenities include an antique desk fan, hair dryer, plus tea and coffee making facilities.

All attached bathrooms have been redesigned to include a more spacious vanity area, new bathtub, and a separate shower area.

“The resort has been refurbished to replace and update some of its furnishings as well as redesign some of its facilities to offer a more conducive and invigorating experience for guests, yet still retaining our old world charm which our guests have come to associate with the property. The property features a spectacular charm with its verdant surroundings and we are thrilled to welcome back our return guests to this serene haven and also confident to entice new guests to experience this boutique resort,” said Mr Krishna Badhur, Hotel Manager of The Lakehouse, Cameron Highlands.

While respecting the resort’s traditional architecture and environment, simple modern touches and classic antique decorative pieces were mixed with the resort’s existing furnishings, radiating charm in a warm homey atmosphere. The resort’s facilities have also been refurbished with new plush carpets, draperies, re-upholstered chairs and the installation of ceiling fan and satellite TV set in the Cameron Bar, Highlander Lounge and Private Room.

Additional features include wireless Internet access, available at the Cameron Bar and there are laptops for rental, and for small groups requiring a private meeting room or dining room for up to 15 persons, a private room overlooking the garden is now available.

New packages have also been developed to include tours to the rolling hills of tea plantations, four-wheel drive to the highest mountain in Cameron for an awestruck aerial view, interpretive walk through the Mossy Forest revealing an exotic array of floral, and many more. Two nights’ packages for two persons start from RM750.
