Dragonair gives 50 Students opportunity to 'Be a Champion'

Travel News Asia 2 August 2005

Dragonair is sponsoring the air travel of 50 underprivileged Hong Kong students taking part in the “Be a Champion” Study Tour to Beijing this summer.

Aged from 8-16, the programme gives the students the chance to meet and receive tips from some of the best coaches in the world, in sports such as badminton, tennis, basketball and swimming. The first of three 10-day study tours this summer was completed this week.

“We are very pleased to be giving these children the opportunity to experience more and point them on the way to reaching their full potential,” said Andy Tung, Chief Operating Officer of Dragonair. “It’s a huge opportunity for them to have access to some of the best national coaches and we hope they come back inspired.”

Dragonair is the official airline of the study tour organised by the Training Bureau of the State Sports of the General Administration of China and FESCO Overseas Association. Students are chosen through a process overseen by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups.
