Lagos appointed General Manager of InterContinental Hotel Abu Soma in Egypt

John Lagos has been appointed as the general manager of the InterContinental Hotel Abu Soma in Egypt.

The Australian, who is fluent in English, Greek and Italian and capable in Arabic, French and Russian, started his hospitality career in 1970 at the Menzies Hotel in Sydney, Australia. Lagos has experience in managerial positions in hotels in countries including Vietnam, Greece, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Latvia, U.S. and New Zealand.

Commenting on the appointment, Chris Moloney, Chief Operating Officer, InterContinental Hotels Group, Middle East and Africa, said, “At InterContinental Hotels Group we are committed to sourcing the best people to oversee the management of our properties with John’s extensive knowledge and know how, it is only fitting that he take on the smooth running of the stunning InterContinental Hotel Abu Soma in Egypt.”

Located between two other famous Red Sea resorts, Hurghada and Safaga, Abu Soma boasts palm trees tracing the curve of the bay. The resort, which rests on a prime water front location with magnificent views of the sea and the distant desert, has 200 guest rooms and 63 suites. With five floors of accommodation, the hotel also has five restaurants and stunning outdoor sports facilities, including an amazing swimming pool and beach area.
