Travel News Asia 26 May 2005

Mr. Prote Setsuwan, the former International Air Transport Association (IATA)s Regional Manager for Southeast Asia, recently joined Bangkok Airways marketing team as Marketing Strategy Director.

The 42-year-old airline savvy has marked milestones in Thailands airline industry. Having been in a key position of the IATA for Thailand and Indochina, he introduced the Insurance Program aiming to substitute the Bank Guarantee for travel agents in Thailand as the first country in the world. After this achievement in 1998, the solution is now adopted as a global practice.

In 2000, he introduced a paperless report of BSP or Billing Settlement Program, which is now also becoming the standard billing and report format for IATA worldwide. Later on in 2001, he successfully launched Electronic ticketing for BSP agents in Thailand. Mr. Prote was promoted to the position of Regional Manager for Southeast Asia of IATA in 2001.

Graduated with a Masters of Management from Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration, Mr. Prote acquired his undergraduate degree in Accountancy from the Benedictine College in Kansas, USA.
