ITE Hong Kong 2005 benefits from Guangdong TV

Travel News Asia 26 May 2005

The Star Channel of Guangdong Television (GDTV) is to run a series of 3 episodes on international travel with materials either supplied by exhibitors of the upcoming ITE or being drawn from interviews with the trade show's supporters, sponsors and exhibitors. These episodes are being included in the program of “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Zero Distance”, a regular feature which runs daily from 6.40pm Monday to Friday. The first episode has already been aired on May 21, and the other episodes will be aired on May 27 and June 3.

A total of 15 tourism boards from all over the world and 5 other exhibitors from Hong Kong including sponsors Cathay Pacific, Dragonair and KCRC, have provided materials. In addition, 14 interviews were conducted in Hong Kong in early May, which also included 2 supporting organizations, namely, Hong Kong Inbound Travel Association (HKITA) and the Hong Kong Association of China Travel Organizers (HACTO).

China has been experiencing a boom also in outbound travel. With around 40 official pavilions and some 500 international exhibitors from 50 countries offering different travel services and travel themes, the ITE is set to be a treasure trove of information on the latest travel trends.

The channel is also being broadcasted by satellite with a potential reach of 540 million viewers in different parts of China.

Organised by TKS, the ITE will be held from June 9 to 12 at Hall 1 of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, with the first two days open only to trade and the last 2 days to public. Tickets for the public days are priced at HK$20 each and are available at the expo and in all outlets of Circle K from May 27.
