General Manager appointed at Le Meridien She Shan Shanghai

Mr. Janus Lee Chin Heng has been appointed as the General Manager of the new Le Méridien She Shan Shanghai. Janus’s key focus is on strategic growth and pre-opening activities for the new and upcoming Le Méridien She Shan Shanghai scheduled to open in November 2005.

Janus, a Malaysian national, began his hospitality career in 1987 with an international hotel in Malaysia. He joined Gloria Resort Sanya in the People’s Republic of China in 2002 and spent two years working in a General Manager position for the group. His last posting prior to joining Le Méridien was as Director of Operations - Southern China for the Gloria International Hotels Group.

Le Méridien She Shan Shanghai is being developed by Shanghai Shimao Group, which also owns Le Royal Méridien Shanghai, currently under construction and due to open in the first quarter of 2006.

Conveniently located within a one-hour drive from Shanghai City Centre, Le Méridien She Shan Shanghai is located within the National Tourist Resort of She Shan. Known to be Shanghai’s most beautiful and natural picturesque landscape, the area has been identified by Chinese authorities as a primary tourist precinct and will eventually comprise some 47 square kilometres of cultural and recreational facilities including sculpture gardens, golf courses, hotels and convention facilities. The Le Méridien She Shan Shanghai will feature 325 apartments and suites, all offering panoramic views of Yuehu Lake, as well as a state-of-the-art convention facility with capacity for up to 2,400 people, various food & beverage outlets and a comprehensive range of leisure facilities.
