HKTB relocates Visitor Information and Services Centre to Causeway Bay MTR Station

Travel News Asia 24 March 2005

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has relocated its Hong Kong Island Visitor Information & Services Centre from Central to the MTR Causeway Bay Station.

HKTB Executive Director Ms Clara Chong said that Causeway Bay was a major hub for shopping, dining and entertainment. “It is a ‘must visit’ area for both free independent travellers (FITs) and tour visitors during their free time,” she said. “Given its high tourism traffic, we have relocated our Hong Kong Island Visitor Information & Services Centre from The Center in  Central to Causeway Bay. We believe that this will offer visitors even more convenient access to our services and information on sightseeing, shopping, dining and entertainment.”

“Another reason for choosing Causeway Bay is its central location and its links to various transport systems, including the MTR,” Ms Chong explained. “We know that the MTR is the most frequently used public transport by visitors. That’s why we’ve moved our Centre to the MTR station. Having been to our Centre, visitors can easily get to other parts of the city to enjoy our multi-dimensional attractions.”

To offer visitors even more flexible and convenient services, the HKTB has extended the operating hours of the new Centre by two hours. Open daily from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, the Centre provides tourism literature, advice and recommendations, and is also equipped with an I Cyber Link kiosk. Other services include the sale of souvenirs and tour bookings.

The Visitor Information & Services Centre at the Kowloon Star Ferry Concourse, Tsim Sha Tsui has also extended its operating hours to 8:00 pm.
