AirAsia enhances Booking Service with new mobile feature

Travel News Asia 23 August 2005

AirAsia has today taken its online booking service one step further by offering a comprehensive booking system targeting mobile phones and wireless devices.

This new service enables AirAsia customers to search for flights, book, use a credit card to pay, and receive flight confirmation and itinerary details, from anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day.

Tony Fernandes, Group CEO, AirAsia Berhad, said, "Mobile phone users have more than quadrupled in the past few years, even surpassing the growth rate of computer / internet users. Nowadays, having a mobile phone and wireless gadgets is not only a necessity but it is a lifestyle. In keeping with today’s needs and trends, AirAsia is proud to deliver yet another fuss free booking service aimed for the convenience of our consumers. Essentially, mobile.airasia.com enables AirAsia to reach out to even more consumers, cut down operating costs and expand our services to markets with low computer / internet penetration. This will effectively grow our consumer base in countries like China, the Philippines and Indonesia. Reduced operating costs will also mean we can offer even lower fares to our consumer."

At the launch earlier today, AirAsia unveiled a special 2 Day promotion, only applicable for guests who book via mobile.airasia.com. Bookings for these low fares must be made between August 24th – 25th, and are good for travel from October 2nd – 8th , 2005. The following destinations apply:

Kuala Terengganu, Alor Star from RM 1.99 one way
Langkawi, Kuching from RM 9.99 one way
Sandakan, Phuket From RM 29.99 one way
