United Airlines and TAP Portugal offer service on Codeshare Flights

Travel News Asia 22 August 2005

United Airlines customers can now purchase tickets and earn miles to more destinations in Europe and Africa when booking travel on codeshare flights between United and its Star Alliance partner, TAP Portugal, for travel beginning 12 September 2005.

"Our new agreement with TAP Portugal will offer our customers convenient access to more destinations in Europe and Africa," said Michael Whitaker, United's vice president-Alliances, International and Regulatory Affairs. "We continue to look for new opportunities for United and Star Alliance that present a high level of service to our customers while offering them an extended global network for seamless travel throughout the world."

United and TAP Portugal will place each other's code on their transatlantic flights offering customers a variety of travel options between the United States and Portugal through Newark, London-Heathrow, Frankfurt, Munich, Amsterdam, Brussels and Zurich. As a result of the codeshare agreement, United will offer access to new cities in Portugal, including Lisbon, Faro, Porto and Madeira; and in Africa: Sal, Cape Verde; Dakar, Senegal; and Maputo, Mozambique.

United Mileage Plus members also enjoy the benefits of the Star Alliance by earning Elite Qualifying Miles when traveling on TAP Portugal and other Star Alliance partners and redeeming their miles for award travel to nearly 800 destinations worldwide.
