Neil Palmer named Senior Vice President Operations for Starwood Asia Pacific

Neil Palmer has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Operations, for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Asia Pacific Division.

In this role, Palmer will be responsible for overseeing general Hotel Operations, Brand and Corporate Programs for the Asia-Pacific Division. He will also have direct supervision of the hotel portfolios in Central and Southeast Asia, Hongkong, Macau, India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, with the Vice Presidents and Area Managing Directors of these Regions reporting directly to him.

"Neil has led more than 90 hotels in Asia-Pacific towards operational excellence over the past two years and has set a strong foundation for the further development of Service Excellence, Food & Beverage innovation and other key Operational initiatives at the field level. In addition, his excellent vision for design and operations development will be crucial during Starwood’s most aggressive growth phase in Asia-Pacific over the next few years where we expect to open nearly 20 hotels across five countries” said Miguel Ko, President Asia-Pacific, Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

Since joining Starwood in 1984, Palmer has progressed through a variety of senior executive assignments around the division, including Australia, Fiji, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore. He has been a member of the Asia-Pacific divisional leadership team since 1999 when he assumed the position of Vice President & Area Managing Director, Southeast Asia region, based at the Sheraton Imperial in Kuala Lumpur. After managing the integration and conversion of the Phoenix Seagaia Resort, one of the most extensive resort complexes in Japan, to the Sheraton brand in 2002, Palmer joined the division leadership team in Singapore in 2003 as Vice President, Operations Support.

Palmer is a graduate of Westminister Hotel School in London, UK and is based at the Starwood Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore where he reports to Miguel Ko, President, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Asia-Pacific.
