Tahiti Tourisme targets Melbourne and Sydney

Travel News Asia 22 February 2005

Tahiti Tourisme today commenced a series of travel industry briefings in Melbourne and Sydney to build agent and wholesaler knowledge about Tahiti and her Islands.

The “Tahiti Nonstop” programme is part of an ongoing campaign by Tahiti Tourisme to increase industry knowledge about the destination, and coincides with the commencement in July of two weekly non-stop flights by Air Tahiti Nui between Sydney and Tahiti.

These are in addition to current services by Air New Zealand and code share flights by Air Tahiti Nui and Qantas, all of which operate via Auckland.

At each travel agent event, key wholesalers host eight of their top selling Tahiti agents, and product presentations will be made. Prizes will be awarded at each of the events.

The first of the functions, a breakfast for agents, was held this morning at the Coral Atoll in the Melbourne Aquarium.

On Thursday, 24 February, the roadshow moves to Sydney, with an agents’ dinner to be held from 6pm until 9pm at The Atrium, 9 Castlereagh Street. This event will include a performance by Polynesian dancers.

On Friday morning, 25 February, travel wholesalers will receive a special product update from 7.30 am until 9.30am, again at The Atrium.
