InterContinental Hotels Group honors achievements at annual Middle East and Africa regions General Manager Conference

InterContinental Hotels Group has honored the hardwork, dedication to quality and the outstanding overall efforts of its senior management team at the annual Middle East and Africa regions General Manager Conference.

Held this year in Cairo, the annual event is hosted to unify the entire senior management team from all of the groups properties in the region, and to honor amazing achievements.

At the gala ceremony, the General Manager of the Year MEA 2004 Award went to Martin Van Kan from the InterContinental Doha, while the runner up was Tom Meyer from the InterContinental Dubai.

At the bustling awards ceremony, many properties were presented with awards for everything from renovations to financial results. However, the room erupted in thunderous applause when it was announced that the the Hotel of the Year Award went to the Dar Al Tawhid InterContinental Makkah. But the gongs did not stop there, the hotel also was presented with the Financial Achievement Award.

Meanwhile, the Holiday Inn Downtown Dubai was handed the runner up for the Financial Achievement Award, the Crowne Plaza Resort Salalah was presented with the Renovation Award, Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi was crowned with the Process Renovation Breakthrough Award, and the InterContinental Dubai was presented with the Market Performance Achievement Award.

Additionally, three hotels were recognized as winners of the InterContinental Hotels Groups Middle East and Africa Quality Excellence Award 2004. Taking the prize were general managers from the InterContinental Phoenicia Beirut, InterContinental Asmara and the Holiday Inn Yanbu.

The evening concluded with the Hotel Awards. The Best Holiday Inn Hotel Award went to the Holiday Inn Downtown Dubai, while the runner up was the Holiday Inn Dunes Beirut.

The Best Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resort Award was presented to the Crowne Plaza Beirut, with the Crowne Plaza Dubai walking away with second prize. Finally, the Best InterContinental Hotels and Resorts Award belonged to InterContinental Jordan, with the InterContinental Doha the runner up.
