Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand expand Codeshare Agreement

Travel News Asia 21 March 2005

From 27 March 2005, passengers of Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand will be able to enjoy seamless travel to more destinations as a result of an expanded codeshare agreement between the two airlines.

This expanded agreement gives Singapore Airlines a new option to sell dual Australia and New Zealand destinations on Air New Zealand’s Sydney-Auckland services, and allow passengers on its daily flights to Auckland to connect on Air New Zealand Auckland-Rotorua service, thereby providing a comprehensive coverage of domestic points in New Zealand.

Customers of Air New Zealand can now enjoy more choice of flights on Singapore Airlines’ extensive services between Singapore and Dubai, Frankfurt and Rome.

Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand already have an extensive codeshare network in place, covering eight New Zealand domestic destinations, in addition to their services to Auckland and Christchurch, and international destinations such as Bangkok, London, Manchester and Zurich. With this expanded codeshare agreement, customers of both airlines can look forward to more new and seamless travel options, reciprocal frequent flyer programmes as well as a joint lounge access.

“This expansion of our codeshare cooperation represents our ever growing relationship with Air New Zealand and the continuous endeavours by both airlines to maximise the opportunities offered by our combined network to the advantage of our passengers,” said Mr Huang Cheng Eng, Singapore Airlines’ Executive Vice President, Marketing and the Regions.

Air New Zealand Group General Manager for Marketing, Network and Sales Norm Thompson said the expanded codeshare agreement would present customers of both airlines with even more comprehensive travel options.

“Customers have been strongly embracing the benefits of the existing codeshare arrangement and we are confident that the expanded agreement will further stimulate demand to travel with Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand,” said Mr Thompson.
