Dusit to open 3000sqm Convention Hall in Hua Hin

Travel News Asia 21 February 2005

The Dusit Resort Hua Hin (formerly called Dusit Resort and Polo Club) is scheduled to open one of the biggest convention halls in Thailand mid-2005. Named the Praram 6 Convention Hall, it will cover an area of over 3000 sqm on 11.86 acres of the hotel’s garden area.

“We are pleased to announce the Praram 6 Convention Hall project of Dusit Resort Hua Hin and we are confident that its unprecedented size and range and scope of capabilities in the MICE business will be a major boost to Dusit as one of the leaders in this highly important and challenging market,” Mr. Khampi Suwanarat, Chief Operating Officer of Dusit Hotels & Resorts, remarked.

Mr. Victor Sukseree, General Manager of Dusit Resort Hua Hin, said, “Our new convention hall is expected to bring in 25% growth in the MICE market for the Central region after its first year in operation.”

To be completed at a cost of almost 150 million baht, the meeting hall’s concept is fashioned along the lines of King Rama VI’s (hence its name) summer palace (Phra Ratchaniwet Marukkathayawan) in the turn-of-the-century (1930’s) Thai-European style. The Hall will feature the Praram 6 Grand Ballroom (1,012 sqm), divisible into two banquet rooms: Rama 6 North (644 sqm) and Rama 6 South (368 sqm). The ballroom can cater up to 1,500 persons for cocktail, 1,200 theater-style seating, and 850 for sit-down dinners. It can also stage musical and theatrical performances, complete with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment that will make it on par with other major cultural centers within the country.
