Blue Canyon Country Club in Phuket to observe Anniversary of Tsunami Tragedy

This festive season, the Blue Canyon Country Club is opening its doors and reaching out to the hearts of the Tsunami survivors by organising Christmas parties specially for them. This is a continuation of the country club’s efforts in providing aid and welfare to the Phuket community.

When the devastating Tsunami first hit Phuket, Blue Canyon Country Club immediately swung into action, transforming the club into a crisis relief centre. Bed linen, food and medical supplies were provided to thousands of stranded tourists and residents who lost their homes and families when the tidal waves struck on December 26, 2004. 

In addition to monetary contributions, Mr and Mrs Sia, owners of the Blue Canyon Country Club, also helped reconstruct about 20 houses in the Nai Rai village.

This season, the management and staff of Blue Canyon Country Club will come together to host a series of social gatherings for the residents of Phuket and to help the needy during this time of the year.

Child-Watch Party, 25th December, 2005 - Blue Canyon Country Club is organising a Christmas party for children affected by the Tsunami. Blue Canyon Country Club undertook supervision of Child-Watch, an organisation that seeks to provide welfare and basic education for children who were abused and abandoned by their parents. Blue Canyon Country Club will also sponsor the monthly milk supply to ensure all children under the care of Child-Watch receive the appropriate nutrition. The Country Club aims to organise a party for these children on a quarterly basis.

26th December, 2005 – The Blue Canyon Country Club will join millions of people around the world in this somber ceremony to remember the hundreds and thousands of lives lost during the disaster. Prime Minister of Thailand, Thaksin Shinawatra, and other world leaders will be present at the memorial.

Blue Canyon Country Club staff will be visiting a Child Care Centre in Phang-nga in the next few weeks. Clothes, books, stationery and toys collected by Blue Canyon Country Club staff will be distributed to the children aged between 1 to 13 years old.
