Special Fares and Bonus Miles from Continental Airlines on Beijing-New York Service

Travel News Asia 20 May 2005

In celebration of the launch of its daily non-stop service from Beijing to New York starting June 16th, Continental Airlines is launching special fares and a limited time offer of additional bonus miles.

The promotional fare will be RMB 5,288 round trip for Continental Airlines' new nonstop flights between Beijing, China and its New York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport. The airline is also offering additional bonus miles to those who sign up for 'OnePass' its frequent flyer program. Passengers who fly Beijing to New York and back between June 16 and August 15 will receive an extra 2,500 bonus miles and a welcome bonus of 5,000 miles in addition to the standard bonus miles awarded under Continental's mileage program, giving a total of 21,100 miles.

"Continental is pleased to be able to bring our world class service to the rapidly growing and dynamic China market. We are proud to be the first U.S. airline to initiate the new service to China in decades and the only U.S. airline to link New York with Beijing," said Jim Compton, Executive Vice President of Marketing for Continental Airlines.

Flight CO88 will depart Beijing at 3:45 p.m., arriving at New York at 5:15 p.m. same day. The flight from Newark will leave Liberty at noon, arriving in Beijing at 1:45 p.m. the next day.

Continental's state-of-the-art Boeing 777-200 planes seat 48 passengers in BusinessFirst class and 235 in Economy, for a total of 283 seats. Flight time from Beijing to New York is 13 and half hours. Passengers boarding in Beijing can now reach New York around five hours faster than on previous flights out of Beijing that traveled via Tokyo and other cities en route to New York.

To coincide with the new Beijing to New York flights, Continental recently opened a new sales office in Beijing employing 30 people responsible for sales, marketing, reservations, ticketing and cargo service. This team will be led by Mr. H.C. Kwok, recently appointed Representative & Country Director of China for Continental Airlines. Born in Hong Kong, Mr Kwok is a veteran in the aviation industry and has been with Continental for 15 years.
