Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel in Laos launches Buy One Night get One Night Free promotion

Travel News Asia 20 May 2005

A “hot” holiday combining colonial style luxury and the sights of IndoChina takes form with a stay at the heritage Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel, Colours of Angsana’s flagship property with a royal touch. The hotel was recently crowned one of the world’s best new properties in the independently rated Condé Nast Traveler’s prestigious Hot List 2005 annual accolades.

Guests who book their accommodation at Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel by 30 June and stay before 31 July 2005 are offered an enticing Maison Celebration package with one complimentary night for every paid night at the rate of US$150++ per night for a Garden room.

Once the residence of Prince Souvannaphouma, for which the hotel is named, this flagship Colours of Angsana property is a distinct colonial-style heritage brick structure reminiscent of French influence and architecture. The intimate rooms are furnished in signature Angsana colours of tangerine, with a touch of the  contemporary. The La Residence wing offers three luxurious suites in the former home of the Prince, while the Garden and Verandah rooms are furnished with large balconies to enjoy the sweeping view of mountains and the Mekong River, which is within walking distance.

Luang Prabang was the royal capital of Laos for 600 years, until as recently as 1975. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995 for its glittering temples, spiritual and religious sites, and the limestone formations of nearby Kuang Si. An Inter Lao tourism branch at the hotel offers visitors a range of activities and sightseeing ranging from half day to full day excursions.

A stay at the Maison Souvannaphoum would not be complete without a holistic Ayurvedic massage, drawing on the ancient wisdom of Indian techniques for balancing mind and body. The Angsana Spa within the hotel offers 3 elegant outdoor spa pavilions for treatments using fresh botanicals and the ancient art of aromatherapy.

Maison Souvannaphoum is located just ten minutes from Luang Prabang International Airport. The direct flight from Bangkok to Luang Prabang takes 2 hours, while a direct flight from Chiang Mai takes 1 hour. Guests may also choose to take ground transport from Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang, an approximate 8 to 10 hours’ drive depending on border crossing, or take a 12-hour sightseeing ride from the capital city Vientiane.
