Slow improvements on Inflight meals on British Airways longhaul services

Travel News Asia 19 August 2005

British Airways has said it expects to resume serving hot meals to customers on longhaul flights departing from Heathrow from Monday, 22 August 2005.

World Traveller and World Traveller Plus customers will be able to choose from two hot meal options and a deli-bag option.

Customers in BA's First and Club World cabins will have an improved meal service consisting of three hot meal choices and a deli-box option.

A limited bar service consisting of beer, wine and minerals is currently being offered on all longhaul flights.

The hot meal service will resume for customers on longhaul flights inbound to Heathrow from Wednesday, 24 August 2005.

British Airways Director of Customer Service and Operations, Mike Street, said, “While this is a far cry from our usual service levels, it is a welcome move for our longhaul customers.

“We continue to talk to Gate Gourmet regarding its capability to improve further on the service it is currently able to provide.”

Shorthaul customers will continue to be offered meal vouchers, access to refreshment centres in the terminals and pre-flight dining in the premium lounges. On-board refreshment remains limited to water for the time being.
