Boeing to Contribute $1 Million to American Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina Relief

Travel News Asia 1 September 2005

Boeing is to donate US$1 million to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and will also match employee and retiree contributions to that organization through the company's Employees Community Fund. The match is dollar-for-dollar for employees and 50 cents-on-the-dollar for eligible employees retired from Boeing. It extends through September 26.

Employees all over the company responded soon after the scale and scope of the tragedy emerged, according to Toni Bailey, vice president, Boeing Community and Education Relations. "Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by this tragic event," she said. Bailey added that the company remains in close contact with the American Red Cross and will receive regular updates on the progress of relief efforts.

The Employees Community Fund of The Boeing Company invests nearly $33 million per year in communities around the globe where Boeing employees live and work. Employees manage the funds locally at more than 50 Boeing sites and choose the community organizations that receive help.
