Hong Kong’s Chief Economic Development Official to Speak at International Aviation Womens Association Conference in Shanghai

Sandra Lee, one of the highest ranking government officials of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, has been confirmed as a featured speaker at the 17th Annual Conference of the International Aviation Womens Association. The conference which runs from 2 to 4 November 2005 in Shanghai, is co-hosted by the Civil Aviation Administration of China and is IAWA’s first in Asia.

Secretary Lee is Hong Kong's Permanent Secretary for Economic Development with responsibility for air services, port and maritime services, logistics development, tourism, energy, postal services, meteorological services, competition policy and consumer protection.

Secretary Lee joins other high-ranking government officials as key speakers at the conference such as Marion Blakey, Administrator of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and Dr. Tatyana G. Anodina, Chair of the Russian Interstate Aviation Committee.

Secretary Lee has been with the Hong Kong Government since 1974, working in a number of policy and resource departments and overseas offices. She has been in her present post since July 2002. Recent postings before that were with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Washington D.C., Home Affairs Department and Civil Service Bureau. She was Director-General of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in London from 1999 to 2000, and Secretary for Economic Services from July 2000 to June 2002.

IAWA's meeting will take place at Shanghai’s Oriental Riverside Hotel.
