Virgin Atlantic extends Twilight Check In Service for Gatwick Passengers

Travel News Asia 18 July 2005

Virgin Atlantic has extended the operating hours of its Twilight Check In service at Gatwick Airport. The service now allows passengers to check in for a morning flight between midday and 9pm the day before, enabling the traveller to move quickly through the airport on the day of departure. Since the launch of Twilight Check In in 2000, the service has become increasingly popular with approximately 20% of Virgin Atlantic's passengers flying out of Gatwick now using the service every day.

Lynda Tatler, Airport Manager for Virgin Atlantic at Gatwick, commented, “Following the success of Twilight Check In, the service has been extended to open from midday to 9pm the day before departure to meet demand. Passengers can avoid queues and check themselves and their baggage in quickly and easily. They can then go straight through to the departure area the next day with plenty of time to spare for last minute shopping.”

Virgin Atlantic operates services from Gatwick to Orlando, Barbados, St Lucia, Antigua, Las Vegas, Grenada, Tobago, Cuba, The Bahamas and Port Harcourt.

In the Caribbean, ‘Check In and Chill Out’ is popular with passengers who can check in for their flight when checking out of their hotel. In Florida, Virgin Atlantic offers a check in facility in Downtown Disney enabling passengers to check themselves and their bags in at a kiosk on the day of departure and spend the last day of their holiday in the theme park, without having to rush back to the hotel.
