Marriott names Geoff Garside Executive Vice President for Asia, Pacific and Australia

Marriott International has named Geoff Garside executive vice president for the Asia, Pacific and Australia region, reporting to Ed Fuller, president and managing director for International Lodging. Most recently, Mr. Garside served as senior vice president for the region.

In his role, Mr. Garside oversees a Marriott International lodging portfolio of 92 hotels in 14 countries and territories, offering 30,735 rooms and spanning six lodging brands. An additional 11 properties are currently under construction or development in this region.

“Our international leadership brings a unique dimension to our ability to achieve our growth goals. Geoff’s leadership is essential to our ability to effectively address the complexities and nuances of the global marketplace and to help us reach our fullest potential in this market,” said Mr. Fuller.

Mr. Garside joined Marriott in 1977 as director of management engineering in Washington, D.C. In 1980, he was named general manager of the Twin Bridges Marriott and subsequently held similar positions at several hotels before being named general manager of the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.

A British national, Mr. Garside was educated in England and Strasbourg. He earned his international post graduate degree in hotel administration from Strasbourg.
