| Four Seasons Hotels and
Resorts has opened its first hotel in Switzerland, the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues
Geneva. Located in the city centre on the banks of Lake Geneva, the view from the
hotel encompasses Geneva’s most significant icons: the Jet d’eau -
one of the world’s tallest fountains - and the Old Town, where many buildings
date from the 16th century. “Four Seasons is proud to re-introduce one of Geneva’s legendary landmarks,” said Wolf Hengst, president, worldwide hotel operations, Four Seasons Hotels and
Resorts. “As a city that plays host to hundreds of international organizations, respected banking institutions and sophisticated leisure travelers, we’re delighted to offer
a new level of service and style within the heart of Geneva.” Following twelve months of restoration, celebrated French interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon has recaptured the spirit of the neo-classical building while adding 21st
century amenities. Delicate handiwork by local artisans has enhanced the
hotel’s understated elegance. The hotel offers 83 bedrooms and 20 suites with floor-to-ceiling
windows. Wedgewood blue and light almond green and “toile de Jouy” wall motifs complement classical, Louis-Philippe-style furnishings. All rooms feature ensuite
marble bathrooms, and LCD flat-screen televisions with DVD players. Il Lago restaurant invites guests to experience the finest northern Italian cuisine, accompanied by exceptional Italian, French and Swiss wines, including a selection from
several boutique vineyards. Adjoining Il Lago, the cherry wood panelling of the Bar des Bergues provides an intimate location to enjoy an after-work drink. In warmer
weather, cocktails or light fare may be enjoyed on the Terrace, by the lake. For meetings and events of all sizes, the
hotel includes five function rooms with views of the lake and features the historic Salle des Nations, specially created for the
first meeting of the League of Nations in 1920. A Fitness Centre, with state-of-the art equipment and a complimentary juice bar is situated on the top floor and outdoor
activities such as golf and water sports activities can be enjoyed within easy reach of the
hotel. Less than an hour’s drive away, the Swiss Alps provide many skiing
opportunities in the winter and hiking in the summer months. Until February 28, 2006,
the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva is offering an introductory rate starting at CHF 600 for a Superior Room, including breakfast for two,
on a double occupancy basis. See
