Travel News Asia 17 June 2005

Finnair has appointed Mr. Jukka Hienonen, 43, M.Sc.(Econ.) as its new President and CEO as of 1 January 2006.

Jukka Hienonen has worked for Stockmann Oy since 1995 and has been Executive Vice President of the company since 2003. Jukka Hienonen has solid managerial experience of customer service as well as wide experience of international trade.

The current President and CEO, Keijo Suila, will retire on 31 December 2005. "Suila has very successfully piloted Finnair through difficult years for the airline industry and he saw early on the growth opportunities in Asian traffic. During Suila's time as President and CEO, Finnair's Asian traffic has quadrupled and new growth has also been achieved in the Scandinavian market," said Chairman of the Finnair Board of Directors, Christoffer Taxell.
