New General Manager appointed to Le Meridien Khao Lak

Travel News Asia 17 May 2005

Achim Brueckner has been appointed General Manager for the re-opening of Le Méridien Khao Lak Beach Resort & Spa, a hotel which was damaged by the tsunami but expects to open its doors again in October 2005.

Mr Brueckner, a German national, began his hospitality career in 1990 at the Robinson Club Lyttos Beach in Greece. Prior to joining Le Méridien Khao Lak Beach & Spa Resort, he was previously Hotel Manager at Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort. In 1998, he held the position as General Manager for 5 years at the group’s property in Kihaadhuffaru, Maldives, Sinai and the Seychelles before moving to Thailand in 2003.

“It is my belief that Khao Lak will overcome the tsunami tragedy and resume its place as one of Thailand’s most attractive resort destinations,” said Mr Brueckner.

“I am very pleased to be given the opportunity to help rebuild the community and economy of Khao Lak. It has taken enormous effort and determination to get the resort back into first class condition and I am sure all our future guests will enjoy the benefits and appreciate this fine resort destination.” he added.
