Lufthansa to increase fuel surcharge

Travel News Asia 1 July 2005

From 8 July, the surcharge on Lufthansa's intra-European routes will be raised from seven to nine euros per flight leg. On long-haul routes, the surcharge will be increased from 27 to 37 euros per leg. The previous surcharge will apply to all tickets issued on or before 7 July.

While oil prices have risen by about 35% since the beginning of the year, an economy full fare from Frankfurt to New York has only risen by around 1% as a result of the fuel surcharge.
