Hong Kong Disneyland offers more Flexibility and Incentives to Travel Agents and Wholesalers

Travel News Asia 15 December 2005

Retail travel agents and wholesalers throughout the Asia Pacific should find it easier than ever to do business with Hong Kong Disneyland with the introduction of flexible ticket options, improved commissions for bulk ticket purchases and enhanced training and marketing support.

Starting January 3, 2006 Hong Kong Disneyland will offer flexible ticket options that will make every ticket purchased valid for six months. This new offering will allow travel agents to provide their customers with greater flexibility when they are planning their trip to Hong Kong Disneyland. They can continue to book through contracted wholesalers or direct with Hong Kong Disneyland at 1-830-8000.

Travel agents will also find it easier to make bulk ticket purchases from Hong Kong Disneyland as each regular/peak ticket purchased will be valid for six months, rather than for a specific date.

Roy Tan Hardy, Vice President Marketing, Hong Kong Disneyland said, “Since our Grand Opening in September [2005], we have been listening to feedback from travel agents throughout Asia and they have told us that they would prefer to have the opportunity to buy tickets which were not date specific.

“As a result, we are delighted to present this new offering which will increase the flexibility our travel agent partners can offer their customers, as well as making it easier for our agent partners to make bulk ticket purchases.”

Joseph Tung, Executive Director, Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong said, “As Hong Kong Disneyland continues to evolve in Asia, it is adapting and changing to make a great experience even better for everybody, including guests and the travel trade industry.”

Michael Wu, Deputy Managing Director, Gray Line Tours of Hong Kong Limited, added, “Hong Kong Disneyland’s new, flexible ticket is great news for the travel trade Industry. The new ticket will make it easier for the travel trade in Hong Kong, China and across Southeast Asia to do business with Hong Kong Disneyland because the tickets are now good for 6 months. It allows much more flexibility when booking visits to Hong Kong Disneyland.”

Improved Commissions

Retail travel agents have the option of bulk purchasing tickets directly from Hong Kong Disneyland with a HK$20 commission for every adult ticket and HK$10 commission for every children/senior ticket. A purchase minimum of 100 tickets is required.

Additional educational and marketing support

Hong Kong Disneyland will also provide travel agent partners with additional educational and marketing support to create a deeper understanding of the park experience and enable them to market Hong Kong Disneyland to their customers.

Frontline travel agent staff will be offered regular familiarization trips to visit the park and the two Disney-themed hotels to allow them to personally experience the magic and fun of Hong Kong Disneyland.

The Hong Kong Disneyland sales team will also visit 11 provinces throughout China in January and February 2006 for one-on-one training with travel agents. During these training sessions, Hong Kong Disneyland will continue the education process and provide updates on the latest products and facilities.

To ensure travel agents have all the essential information necessary at their fingertips to provide accurate information to their customers, the Travel Trade Training Program and Reference Guide Book have been developed and distributed to all travel agent partners.

“Educating our travel agent partners is so important to Hong Kong Disneyland and the personal sales visits and fam trips will be conducted on an ongoing basis as agents need to learn more about what we offer our guests,” said Hardy.

“The reaction from the agents has been very positive as they realize the added advantage of knowing Hong Kong Disneyland thoroughly helps them to better sell the park to their customers.”
