Record number of Exhibitors at The Hotel Show in Dubai

Travel News Asia 14 May 2005

An independent lighting design consultancy and a new building design and construction concept are joining a long list of products and services making their Middle East launch at the region’s biggest hotel supplies event.

Opening on 22 May at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, The Hotel Show is expected to attract a record number of hotel managers, developers and owners, as well as interior designers, architects and specifiers for a three-day showcase of products and services vital to all sectors of the hospitality industry.

While the concept of lighting design is nothing new to the increasingly sophisticated Middle East market, there is a niche for suppliers of independent lighting services such as UK-based consultancy Phoenix Large [lightmatters] whose client portfolio includes prestigious projects such as the Westin Hotel in Warsaw and Cairo’s Al Azhar Park.

“We will be using The Hotel Show to communicate to the region’s architects and interior designers the advantages of using an independent lighting consultancy, which has no ties to a particular manufacturer”, said Graham Large, Director, Phoenix Large [lightmatters].

“Our technical expertise and depth of product knowledge, combined with our freedom to source products from many different brands provides for tailor-made solutions that fit individual design and budget requirements,” he said.

Another UK-based company, Tantash Trading Group will use The Hotel Show for the Middle East launch of a new cost-effective and versatile construction technique for high-quality mid-range buildings. The company will also be using the event to establish contact with developers of affordable mid-range leisure projects.

“As The Hotel Show is maturing into its sixth year, we’ve seen an increasing range and depth in the products and services showcased,” said Bernard Walsh, Managing Director of dmg world media Dubai Ltd, the event organisers.

“This amazing scope of products means we have a lot to offer to the owners, developers and managers of high-end luxury hotel properties as well as to the decision-makers within the emerging mid and economy-range hotel market,” he said.

Visitors will be able to preview a vast array of products and services vital to hotels – from the latest leisure equipment, to furniture, accessories and high-tech guest entertainment and security systems showcased by a record number of 425 exhibitors.

Exhibitors are arriving from as far afield as Italy, Australia, the Far East, Russia, South Africa and the United States, as well as from the major regional players. So far, ten national pavilions, from China, France, Portugal, Germany, Greece, Malta, Mexico, Spain, Turkey and the UK, have signed up to take part in the exhibition.
