Travel News Asia 13 October 2005

Boeing has appointed ICON International Communications as its public relations consultancy in Singapore.

ICON will provide strategic communications counsel and support across the spectrum of Boeing’s business activities, including Commercial Airplanes and Integrated Defense Systems.

Boeing Director of Communications Raymond Francis said, “The ICON team possesses a wealth of aerospace industry and public relations experience. The combination of these traits coupled with their creativity and their proven ability to deliver results, make ICON the ideal consultancy for Boeing in Singapore.”

The ICON account team will include Managing Director John Bailey and Sharolyn Choy, who joined the company as a Director in September after ten years with Edelman Public Relations, including five years as Managing Director of Edelman’s Singapore office. Ms Choy has directed strategic communications programs for numerous local, regional and multinational companies operating in Singapore.

John Bailey has worked with more than 50 airlines and major aerospace companies worldwide and joined ICON from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), where he launched the successful IATA Crisis Communications consultancy service. He was previously a Senior Vice President with international PR agency Fleishman-Hillard in Hong Kong and is a former newspaper, magazine and wire service reporter.

ICON is one of Australia’s fastest-growing independent PR consultancies and opened its first Asian office in Singapore in May 2005.
