Sheraton opens in Pattaya

Travel News Asia 12 August 2005

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has opened its newest resort, the 156-room Sheraton Pattaya Resort in Thailand. The new resort is located only an hour’s drive from the new Bangkok International Airport which is scheduled to open end 2006.

“Pattaya has changed a great deal, and is now beginning to attract a more sophisticated clientele, a trend which we expect to grow significantly with the opening of the new Bangkok International Airport” said General Manager David Cuddon.

Offering views of the Gulf of Siam and long stretches of private, palm-fringed beaches, Sheraton Pattaya Resort is an ideal destination for sun seekers. With a full range of water activities and excursions, scuba diving and snorkeling enthusiasts have the underwater worlds of 12 nearby islands to discover. Kayaking, wind surfing and nature walks offer a balance of activity and relaxation. Likewise, children have three outdoor pools to chose from, a Kid’s Club and activities centre.

Guest rooms are well appointed with modern arrangements and amenities showcasing an attractive Asian design scheme. Forty-two of the 156 rooms are deluxe and ocean front pavilions, where spacious balconies provide sweeping views of the tropical gardens and the ocean, and the two beach front villas each have their own private plunge pool.

Surrounded by tranquil gardens and enchanting water features, the hotel’s Amburaya Spa is among the most exclusive in Pattaya and a peaceful haven in which to rejuvenate and invigorate mind, body and soul. Six treatment rooms are authentically designed and beautifully decorated for pure indulgence. Highly-trained therapists specialise in traditional holistic treatments for the ultimate in relaxation.

For the business traveller, a complete WIFI resort means high-speed wireless internet from any location on the property. A business centre and boardroom provide all of the conveniences and comfort of a home office. Five meeting and function rooms, opening onto a lush tropical garden terrace, are equipped to accommodate up to 350 guests and offer a plethora of audio-visual equipment and technical assistance. A skilled events team ensures that each event, meeting and conference is a success. The Pattaya Exhibition and Conference Hall (PEACH) is adjacent to the resort.

Sheraton Pattaya Resort offers four unique dining outlets, including the resort’s signature restaurant, Mez, which serves modern eastern cuisine. Located on the Mezzanine level of the property, the sleek, modern interior design is set against a backdrop of views of nearby Koh Larn (Coral Island) and beyond.
