Diethelm Events appointed as Ground Handler for Miss Universe 2005

Diethelm Events has been appointed the Official Ground Handling Agent for the Miss Universe 2005 pageant, to be held in Bangkok this month from 29 to 31 May.

Diethelm Events will provide transportation, sightseeing excursions and pre- and post event tours for the Miss Universe contestants from 88 nations taking part in this world-renowned annual pageant. 

"We are delighted to be associated with such a prestigious high-profile event. International media coverage of The Miss Universe 2005 pageant will certainly go a long way in helping to promote Thailand’s image as one of Asia’s top tourist destinations,” said David Barrett, Executive Manager, Diethelm Events.

John Watson, CEO, Diethelm Travel Asia, said the appointment of Diethelm Events validated the team’s ability to handle such prestigious, large-scale programmes.

“This is another landmark event for Diethelm Events, which proves that our destination management team is recognised internationally for its logistics skills, efficiency, flexibility and dedication in handling such large-scale gatherings," said Watson.

Diethelm Events will provide transportation for all the Miss Universe contestants, production crew, media and VIPs. In addition, the DMC will operate help desks at participating hotels and at IMPACT Arena, Exhibition and Convention Center in Muang Thong Thani, where the event is being held.

Over 80 Miss Universe delegates are expected to take part in this year’s competition, with live coverage provided by NBC and Telemundo. In Thailand the pageant will be televised on Channel 7.

More than a billion people around the world are expected to tune in to watch the pageant.
