Industry experts to convene in Singapore for global forum on trends and developments in corporate travel

Peter Morris, Chief Economist of AirClaims International Transport & Tourism Consultancy, and Don Birch, CEO of Abacus International, will be among the leading industry experts who will be in Singapore later this month to discuss new insights in corporate travel in Asia, where the sector is in growth mode.

The forum is organized by GlobalStar Travel Management, a leader in corporate travel management. It is the first time the company is holding its annual meeting in Asia, a decision that underscores the viability of its business in this region. The forum’s theme, “Corporate Travel in a New Business Environment”, will include topics and discussions that will offer perspectives of respected experts from Asia and globally.

Peter Morris, Chief Economist, AirClaims International Transport & Tourism Consultancy

A regular speaker on airline industry trends and the impact of new market developments – including corporate travel, travel distribution, technology and customer opinion, Peter Morris is Chief Economist heading Airclaims International Transport and Tourism Consultancy in London and Montreal. His company undertakes a wide  range of independent research and consultancy for transport and tourism clients. Throughout his career, he has been involved in the transport and energy sectors, dealing with economic, operational and market research and commercial policy analysis.

Morris will speak on the demands of the new power traveller, and how new trends and developments are shaping the world of corporate travel. He will also lead a panel discussion with other industry experts on the topic of Strategies for a Changing Environment. He will deliver the panel’s opening address on the role of the corporate travel manager.

Don Birch, CEO, Abacus International

A respected commentator on current travel industry issues and challenges, Don Birch is a regular speaker at major industry conferences and is known for his direct, but aspirational ideas. Born in Britain, Don has spent almost his entire life in Asia and is well versed in the Asia Pacific travel market. Heading Abacus International, a leading Global Distribution System (GDS) in Asia, he has more than 30 years of experience in travel and travel information technology.

As a fitting round-up to the forum, Birch will lend his expertise in the Asia Pacific travel market to talk about Trends and Forecasts of the Region.

Other speakers at the forum include GlobalStar’s President and Managing Director, Martin P. Metzler, and its Chairman, Peter Klebanow; Mr Thomas Meier, General Manager of Raffles The Plaza; Sandra McLeod, Vice President, Multi-National Accounts, International Markets for Cendant; Steve Limbrick, Regional Manager for Qantas/British Airways; Kenneth Low, VP South Asia for Abacus; Brent Majors, Director Global Sales for HiMark. Other topics on the agenda that will similarly offer valuable insights and solutions include:

The forum is organized by GlobalStar Travel Management and will take place on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at the Oriental Hotel, Singapore, starting at 8.30am to 1pm.
