Starwood
is to manage two new hotels in China, the Four Points by Sheraton Changshu and
the Four Points by Sheraton Shanghai, Pudong.
“We are thrilled about the choice location of our new hotels in Changshu and Shanghai,” said Miguel Ko, President, Starwood Asia Pacific. “The signing of these two
new properties will further strengthen the Four Points by Sheraton brand’s presence in China. We are honored to partner with Changshu Yukun Real Estate Investment
and Shanghai You You International Plaza to establish these two new hotels, which will be excellent additions to our portfolio in
China and in Asia Pacific.”
Four Points by Sheraton Changshu
The
new-build Four Points by Sheraton Changshu is scheduled to open
mid-2007. The hotel will be located within a mixed-use development consisting of the hotel in one tower, and retail and residential apartments in the other
two towers, near the city center of Changshu, regarded as one of the top
three cities in China in terms of competitiveness in attracting foreign investment. The hotel will
be close to government buildings, banks, residential areas and manufacturing plants and will feature 340 rooms, 11,900 square feet of meeting space, three dining
outlets, a health club and spa, an indoor swimming pool and a business center.
Changshu is located strategically in the southeast of Jiangsu Province, right at the Yangtze River Delta and offers travelers abundant tourism
attractions in addition to its long history and rich cultural heritage. Nearly 2,000 foreign investment entities have set up in Changshu Economic Development Zone with an accumulative foreign
capital investment of around US$11 billion, and visitor arrivals to Changshu has grown at an annual rate of at least 30% since 2004.
Four Points by Sheraton Shanghai, Pudong
The
Four Points by Sheraton Shanghai is scheduled to open mid-2006. The
hotel will be located right next to the Sheraton Shanghai Hotel & Residences (currently under development
with an expected opening in mid-2008) in the Pudong district of Shanghai. The hotel is situated next to the new Shanghai World Exposition site, venue of Shanghai World Expo 2010, as well as the
new Shanghai Exhibition and Cultural Center. The Four Points by Sheraton Shanghai, Pudong
will offer guests easy access to the city’s central business district and places of
interest on both sides of the Huangpu River with the Nanpu Bridge at its doorstep. The hotel will feature 340 rooms, 11,800 square feet of meeting space, three food and
beverage outlets and a health club.
Shanghai, a municipality under the China Central Government, is the largest economic and trade center in China. According to Shanghai Tourism Commission, the
increasing numbers of multinational companies and travel related companies have helped stimulate the tourism industry in Shanghai. Shanghai expects to receive at
least 4 million visitors from abroad in 2005, with domestic tourist numbers forecasted at 100 million.
