25% more Entries Expected for EIBTM's Worldwide Technology Initiative

Travel News Asia 11 May 2005

EIBTM 2005, will once again, be hosting the WorldWide Technology Watch (WWTW) competition, in the search for new technological innovations for the incentive, business travel and meetings industry. Last year winner, introNetworks believed that the recognition the award gave them would enhance their marketing efforts to  grow their company. Recently Mark Sylvester, CEO, Creative Director added, “As new technology suppliers to the conference and meeting planner market we recognised that winning this competition would be a tremendous boost to our marketing efforts as we grow our business internationally. This kind of recognition is  invaluable to a growing company and we are very pleased with the results!"

The EIBTM team believe that entry figures for the WWTW 2005 will be up 25% on last years and expect the number of those companies entering WWTW and also exhibiting at the MPI Technology Village at EIBTM 2005 to increase by 40% - bringing more technology solutions to the meetings industry. The 2005 winning entry will  be given a free stand within the MPI Technology Village at EIBTM. In addition, the company or individual will also be invited to present at EIBTM to suppliers and buyers from the global meetings, incentives and conferences industry.

The MPI Technology Village at EIBTM showcases some of the leading technology suppliers and most inspiring technology products from Abstract and Speaker Management, Audience Polling, Delegate Management, Kiosks and Messaging to Scheduling Venue Finding and Wireless Technology. This year, the organisers are  expecting a further increase in participating companies as the industry recognises the value of technology. Corbin Ball, CMP, Corbin Ball Associates, one of the EIBTM WWTW judges commented, “EIBTM is the only significant show in the MICE industry that focuses on bringing technology solutions to the industry. They launched the EIBTM WorldWide Technology Watch several years ago and were the first exhibition to concentrate technology vendors in one area. The WWTW award and the MPI Technology Village at EIBTM recognise the transformative impact of technology on the meetings and events industries and I expect that this year will again have many strong applications.”

The EIBTM 2005 WorldWide Technology Watch closing date for entries will be 5th August. Judging takes place on 1st September in Richmond, London.

Previous companies selected have found commercial backing and publicity through presenting at EIBTM. The EIBTM WWTW can provide companies with early exposure, developing the product further with the intention to sell it into the meetings and events market. The entries will be judged on three key criteria;  Innovation/Uniqueness, Impact on the Meetings Industry and Completeness of the Concept. The judging panel is made up of key professionals within the industry including Chairman, Corbin Ball of Corbin Ball Associates, WA, USA.

The EIBTM will take place from 29th November - 1st December 2005, in Barcelona.
