Executive appointments at Six Senses

Six Senses Resorts & Spas has made the following executive appointments.

TJ Grundl-Hong has been appointed Chief Sales Officer & MD Business Development: TJ has assumed the role, from his former position of Area General Manager - Evason Resorts & Hideaways in Vietnam. 

Since May 2000, TJ held the role of General Manager at Six Senses' Evason-branded property, the Ana Mandara Resort & Spa, in Nha Trang.

TJ has also had a key role with Six Senses in conceptualising and planning the creation of two new Six Senses properties in Vietnam: the Evason Hideaway & Six Senses Spa on private Ninh Van Bay, 20 minutes by speedboat from Ana Mandara Resort, which opened early 2005, and Ana Mandra Villas Dalat, an Evason Resort with a Six Senses Spa, in Dalat.

TJ will be based at the Six Senses Bangkok office.

Kenneth J Kominski has been appointed as Group Director – HR & Training: Kenn returns to Thailand to take up this role, having had a previous tenure as Director of Human Resources for Sheraton Thailand.

Having come up through the ranks of the hospitality business, Kenn commenced his career as steward and developed through front-of-house bus person, waiter, host, supervisor, assistant manager and manager. His first role in Asia was as a coffee shop manager in Hua Ting, from where he progressed upwards until he developed Sheraton’s first training hub in China. He also worked in Beijing and Suzhou.

Kenn briefly left the hospitality industry to assist with developing an internet reservations portal. Later he joined the Fullerton Singapore during its pre-opening phase, after which he joined a Singaporean training company and received accreditation from the Singapore Ministry of Education for Services Series which he developed.

Kenn is based in Bangkok.

Richard L Dusome has been appointed Area General Manger, Soneva Resorts Maldives: Richard brings more than 20 years experience in 5-star hospitality management to this role. His most recent position was a four-year tenure as general manager of The Queen’s Landing Inn and Conference Centre in Ontario Canada. This also included operating The3 Shaw Café and Wine BAR, The Oban Inn and a retail and residential complex. Prior. to that Richard spent almost five years with the Peninsula Group, managing The Repulse Bay Hotel in Hong Kong.

Richard began his hospitality career with Four Seasons Hotels’ Inn On The Park in Toronto Canada, before relocating to London to work at The Westbury, The Royal Lancaster and The Mount Royal. After joining Hilton Hotels in 1988, he served as resident manager and executive assistant manager in London and Bangkok.

Richard is based at Soneva Fushi Resort in the Maldives.

Christopher Anthony has been appointed as Director of Human Resources & Training, Soneva Fushi Resort & Six Senses Spa, Maldives. Christopher comes to Soneva Resorts after several years of private practice as human resources trainer and consultant, having completed a tenure with the Regent Singapore. His previous human resource and training experience was earned from tenures with Oberoi Services, Golden Landmark Hotel, Asia Pacific Management Consultants and Mulchards Department Store. He commenced his career with a six-year role as senior industrial relations officer with Amalgamated Union of Public Employees.

Christopher’s impressive academic achievements include a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Diploma in Personal Management, plus several Certificates in Personal Management, Industrial Relations, Train-the-trainer and Security Management Trainer.

Christopher is based at Soneva Fushi Resort in the Maldives.

Ippei Takahashi has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing, Japan. Ippei Takahashi has relocated to Japan to assume the role for Six Senses Resorts & Spas. He leaves the Six Senses Bangkok office after a tenure as Sales Manager, Evason Resorts & Hideaways Thailand.

Before joining Evason Resorts & Hideaways, Ippei held the position of Manager – Marketing & Planning for SMI Travel, in Bangkok. He originally moved to Thailand as Operations manager with New Japan Tours. Prior to this he held positions with New Japan Tours in Vietnam and Hong Kong, and as Operations Manager & Tour Coordinator with Japanindo Utama Tours based in Bali.

Ippei earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Sociology from Konan University in Kobe, Japan. He returns to his native Japan after almost a decade in overseas roles.

Ippei is located in Tokyo.

Mutsumi Shiratori has been appointed as Director of Sales, Evason Resorts & Hideaways Thailand. Mutsumi joins Evason Resorts & Hideaways in Thailand after four years with Thavorn Hotels and Resorts in Phuket Thailand as Director of Sales. In her new role she will direct the sales activities for Evason properties to the Japanese travel trade market in Thailand.

Mutsumi has previously worked in similar roles at the JW Marriott in Bangkok, the Kuala Lumpur Hilton and Amari Watergate Hotel in Bangkok. Prior to that she held Guest Relations responsibilities at the Sapporo Renaissance Hotel Sapporo, and as an Sales Account Executive with Hilton International – both being in her native Japan.

Mutsumi is located at Six Senses’ Bangkok office.
