With even more flying displays scheduled than in previous years,
record-high fuel prices, and with Boeing and Airbus betting on two different future aviation
markets, the 46th International Paris Air Show promises to be a great success.
The
2003 show boasts strong figures but the 2005 event has even improved on
these. In 2003 there was 1,728 exhibitors from 42 countries, with 202 aircraft
on display. The show attracted some 94,000 trade visitors from 142 countries,
over 143,000 general public visitors, around 3,400 journalists and 154 official delegations from 66
countries.
In terms of surface area, the 2005 Paris Air Show will offer 3% more exhibition space
than the 2003 show. 1,916 exhibitors from 41 countries have registered
and over 220 aircraft will be on display, with more than 60 taking part in the flying
displays.
Visitors to this year’s
show will see exceptional aircraft such as the new Airbus A380, Dassault Aviation’s Falcon 7X, Embraer’s EMB 190 and the Boeing Company’s
777-200LR and 767-300 tanker. The Show will also feature Eurocopter’s “large family”, the Airbus A340-600, the Mirage and the Rafale, the EF Typhoon, the MIG29, the
Sukhoi27; and of course UAVs and the space sector with the European Galileo project, the Huygens probe and the Helios II and Syracuse satellites.
This year, the
show will be open to the general public on three consecutive days, Friday 17th, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June.
The previous four days, 13th -16th June are reserved for trade visitors. The programme includes a large number of events: flying displays,
projected onto giant screens, as well as events on
the ground, an area showcasing light aircraft, collectors’ aircraft, and a careers/jobs/training forum.
A 1-day ‘Trade Visitor’ entry pass
can be bought by pre-registering for €32 or at the show for €38. Permanent ‘Trade Visitor’ entry passes (only available by pre-registering)
are €110.
Tickets for the general
public cost €12/day, with free entry for children under the age of 7 and for students (Friday 17th June, on presentation of a valid student card).
