Earlier this week, Typhoon Pedring (international codename: Nesat) caused heavy downpours over Metro Manila that contributed to flooding in the downtown bay area. High waves also spilled over from the Manila Bay into the grounds and lower level of the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, causing flooding and an interruption in power supply and telephone service.
