Page 3 of 4. It is not easy to prepare for international competition when you are the only team in a country to play that particular sport, but that is exactly what the Thailand Tigers are doing.

On 30 June 2012, the only Aussie Rules Football team in Thailand - the Thailand Tigers, will play a team from Laos in Pattaya, Thailand, before taking part in the Asian Championships in August.

The Thailand Tigers, established in the 1990s, has gone from strength to strength, attracting not just Australians to play, but also Brits, Irish and even some Thais.

And while they may not yet be up to the standards of regional Aussie Rules Football powerhouses such as Hong Kong or Singapore, they are a dedicated squad that plays with determination and heart - often finishing mid-table in the Asian Championships.

The Thailand Tigers is about much more than just the footy. The players, along with their family and friends, often meet on a Saturday at the Patana International School for a fun filled day. Before the main game of the day, the youngsters are trained by some of the more experienced in the squad and play a few short games, while friends and family watch on - enjoying some ice cold beers and wine in the shade, and looking forward to the post match bbq.

So, if you are in Bangkok and fancy doing something a little different, perhaps you would like a one-off game, or just want a nice day out with friends and a few cold ones, then check out the Thailand Tigers schedule. And if you have no idea how this sport is played, or what the rules are, then do not worry, there will be plenty of friendly people on hand to help you better understand.

The pictures of the Thailand Tigers below were taken on 16 June 2012, as the team trained for their upcoming international clashes that begin with a game against Laos on 30 June 2012.
