Comlux has become the first to retrofit an Airbus corporate jet, an ACJ319, with Sharklets. The retrofit, carried out by TAP Maintenance and Engineering as part of the first such turnkey-project managed by Airbus Corporate Jets, is also the first on any version of the A319 airliner. Sharklets bring a fuel-saving of up to 4% and a corresponding range improvement.

Korean Air has delivered the first sharklets it has produced for the Airbus A330neo. A sharklet is an ‘L’ shaped structure attached to the end of the wings of an aircraft. Each sharklet, which measures 2m by 4m, helps to cut down on aerodynamic drag, helping to reduce the spiral-shaped vortices that form at the wingtips of aircraft during flights.

7. Etihad Airways Selects Sharklets for New Airbus A320s
Etihad Airways has signed a contract with Airbus to equip 17 of its future A320s on order, with Airbus’ fuel saving Sharklets. The new wingtip devices measure 2.5 metres tall, replace the aircraft’s current wingtip fence and will reduce fuel burn particularly over longer sectors.
8. AirAsia to Become First Airbus A320 Sharklets Operator
AirAsia will become the first operator of the A320 with ‘Sharklets’ when it takes delivery of the first A320 equipped with these fuel-saving wing-tip devices at the end of this year. The aircraft exhibited on static and flying display at the ILA Berlin Air Show is the flight test aircraft for CFM engines and will also be delivered to AirAsia in 2013.
