Currently Airbus produces 36 A320 Family aircraft each month, a production rate that will steadily rise to 38 in August 2011 and to 40 in the first quarter of 2012.

Boeing has increased the production rate of the 737 to 38 airplanes per month. Over the past two years, production of the 737 has risen more than 20%, from 31.5 to 38 airplanes a month. In 2014, the rate will go up again to 42 airplanes a month.

Airbus has said it will increase production of its single-aisle aircraft family to 46 a month in Q2 2016, up from the current rate 42. The new higher production rate will be achieved gradually, with an intermediate step at 44 aircraft per month in Q1 2016.

Boeing is to again increase the production rate for its Next-Generation 737 to 42 airplanes per month. Once implemented in the first half of 2014, the 737 program expects to build on average two 737s each workday and nearly 500 airplanes each year.
