IATA's global air freight data shows very modest growth in September 2015. Measured in Freight Tonne Kilometers, air cargo volumes rose 1.0% compared to the same month a year ago. This is a slight improvement on the August performance when volumes were broadly stable. Overall, however, air cargo volumes remain 1.2% down from their 2014 year-end peak.

In response to this development, Lufthansa is adjusting its fuel surcharge on its flights on domestic and intra-European routes. The surcharge will be raised by three euros and will thus amount to 17 euros per flight segment, effective 13 March 2008.

The latest global air freight data from IATA shows that demand, measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTKs), climbed 8.8% in November 2017 compared to a year ago. This was an increase from the 5.8% annual growth recorded in October 2017. Despite indicators pointing to air cargo having passed a cyclical growth peak, demand remains strong.
