163. Etihad Airways Carries Record Number of Passengers and Cargo in 2011
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways carried a record 8.29 million passengers in 2011, a 17% increase on the previous year. The jump represents an extra 1.197 million passengers on the carrier’s global network covering 82 passenger and cargo destinations. Etihad Crystal Cargo also enjoyed similar growth carrying a record 310,000 tonnes, 46,875 tonnes or 18% more than in 2010.

Spain's Canary Islands airline Binter has signed an agreement for the purchase of six additional new ATR 72-600 aircraft. The order follows its first batch for six ATR 72-600s in February 2014, bringing total orders for ATR aircraft to thirty.

GKN Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney have agreed a risk and revenue sharing partnership (RRSP) for the PurePower PW1400G-JM engine which will power the Irkut MC-21 mid-range, single aisle aircraft. GKN Aerospace has said it expects the RRSP to be worth more than $650 million over the life of the programme.
