Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has signed an agreement to acquire Swissport’s cargo business at Copenhagen Airport. Under the terms of the agreement, Swissport will transfer all business activities to WFS on 1 October 2014. WFS will take over Swissport’s 4,200m˛ cargo terminal at Copenhagen Airport, which handles 18,000 tonnes a year on behalf of leading international airlines.

Qatar Airways is to increase capacity to Perth with an aircraft upgrade to a Boeing 777-300. The capacity increase from a Boeing 777-200 to a 777-300 will bring a 30% increase in seats on the direct daily flights to Perth Airport, with the number of seats rising by 1,064 per week. The increase in capacity will go into effect on 1 October 2014.

According to data from STR Global, hotels in southern Europe reported a demand increase of 4.2% year-to-date October 2014, with the highest occupancy change (+3.6 percent) of all sub-regions in Europe. IATA’s November 2014 data for global air freight markets shows that demand measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTK) grew 4.2% compared to November 2013.
