To achieve this, Whitbread is carrying out a review of plastic and packaging across its supply chain and will work with suppliers to find alternatives to unnecessary single-use items.

91. BMA Launches Thailand’s First All-Electric Commuter Ferry
The Bangkok Metropolitan Authority (BMA) has launched Thailand’s first all-electric commuter ferry. The 47.5-ft fiberglass vessel was repowered by MariArt Shipyard, replacing the existing 205hp diesel engine with twin Torqeedo Cruise 10 kW electric outboards, each with six Torqeedo lithium battery banks and two fast chargers.

InterContinental Hotels Group has become the first global hotel company to commit all brands to removing bathroom miniatures in favour of bulk-size amenities. The welcome move will mean that IHG’s entire hotel estate of almost 843,000 guest rooms will switch to bulk-size bathroom amenities, with the transition to be completed during 2021.
93. Air Canada to Replace Plastic Stirrers with Bamboo Alternative
Air Canada has unveiled a plan to reduce single-use plastics onboard aircraft and in its workplaces. Starting in summer 2019, Air Canada will replace plastic with bamboo stirrers in drinks served on all flights, a move that will save 35 million plastic stirrers annually – enough if laid end-to-end to join Halifax and Vancouver.
