41. Air Transport Industry Safety Performance in 2018
In 2018, more than 4 billion passengers worldwide were carried safely on 38 million flights. There were 13 major accidents involving commercial airline operations, which resulted in a total of 523 fatalities. This represented an overall loss rate of one major accident for every three million flights.

IATA's latest data for global air freight markets shows that demand, measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTKs), was flat (0%) in November 2018 when compared to the same month in 2017. Freight capacity, measured in available freight tonne kilometers (AFTKs), rose by 4.3% year-on-year in November 2018. This was the ninth month in a row that capacity growth outstripped demand.

Aurigny has confirmed an order for three ATR 72-600 aircraft, following approval from the States of Guernsey. The first aircraft will be delivered in August 2019 and all three will be equipped with the ClearVision Enhanced Vision System (EVS).
45. Boeing Delivered 806 Airplanes in 2018; Received 893 New Orders
Boeing delivered sixty nine 737 airplanes in December 2018 and set a new annual record of 806 deliveries in 2018, surpassing its previous record of 763 deliveries in 2017. Even as Boeing delivered more jetliners, the company grew its significant order book with 893 net orders, including 203 airplane sales in December alone.
46. John Saabas Joins Bombardier Transportation as Head of Engineering and Technology
Bombardier Transportation has appointed John Saabas as Head of Engineering and Technology. Mr Saabas will report directly to Bombardier Transportation President, Danny Di Perna and will lead the company’s global technology and product development activities.
47. Saab to Unveil New Camouflage at DSEI 2019 in London
Saab will use the annual Barracuda User Group at DSEI in London this week to brief participants about a new type of camouflage the company has developed. Saab says that the ARCASe (Advanced Reversible Camouflage Screen emissive) offers “true multispectral protection and gives the user complete protection, even in changeable environments.”
48. EgyptAir Takes Delivery of First Airbus A220
EgyptAir has taken delivery of the first of 12 Airbus A220-300 aircraft on order, becoming the first A220 operator based in the Middle East and North African region, and the sixth operator worldwide.
