209. Global Hotels Rates Rise in H1 2012
For the first time in five years, travellers paid more on average for their hotel rooms during the first six months of 2012 in all parts of the world, according to the latest Hotels.com Hotel Price Index. The global 4% rise, compared to the same period the year before, suggests that the economic recovery in the hotel industry was well-established.
210. Ibis Christchurch Reopens
Ibis Christchurch opened its doors on Tuesday, becoming one of the first city centre hotels to re-open since the February 2011 earthquake. The Ibis – located in Hereford Street, just off Cathedral Square – has undergone major remedial work, including the renovation of all 155 rooms and public areas, as well as structural strengthening to meet the city’s new building code.
211. Airbus Forecasts Need for 28,000+ Aircraft in Next 20 Years
Airbus’ latest Global Market Forecast (GMF) identifies a need for some 28,200 passenger and freighter aircraft (of 100 seats or more) between 2012 and 2031 worth nearly US$4 trillion, reconfirming an upward trend in the pace of new aircraft deliveries. Of these over 27,350 will be passenger aircraft valued at US$ 3.7 trillion.

The Michelin two-star Shang Palace Chinese Restaurant at Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong, reopens today after a recent refurbishment programme. New facilities have been added to the expanded restaurant, including a brand new, dedicated wine cellar inside the restaurant as well as a 20-seat grand private dining room in addition to three other private dining rooms.
213. Air Astana Signs Inflight Connectivity Agreement with Rockwell Collins
Air Astana will soon be able to offer passengers inflight connectivity, following an agreement signed with air transport IT provider, Rockwell Collins. Air Astana will install the Inmarsat Global Xpress (GX) high speed connectivity system on its fleet of Boeing 767 airliners commencing September 2016.
214. Air Astana Launches Flights to Tyumen and Kazan in Russia
Air Astana has launched flights from Astana to two destinations in Russia – Tyumen and Kazan. The new Astana – Tyumen route commenced on 2nd June 2018 and will operate thrice weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The flight will be served by an Embraer E190, with nine Business Class and 88 Economy Class seats.

Starwood has unveiled plans to debut its luxury St. Regis brand in Kazakhstan’s capital city, Astana, with the opening of The St. Regis Astana and The Residences at The St. Regis Astana. Developed by MG Development, the project is scheduled to open in 2017.
