17. VietJetAir Signs Deal for Over 100 Airbus Aircraft
Vietnam’s VietJetAir has signed a purchase agreement with Airbus that includes firm orders for 42 A320neo, 14 A320ceo and 7 A321ceo, plus 30 purchase rights. In addition the airline will lease eight more A320 Family aircraft from third party lessors.

Citilink, the low cost subsidiary of Garuda Indonesia, has placed a firm order with Airbus for 25 A320neo. The contract, signed in December 2012, represents the first direct purchase by Citilink from Airbus, and follows an order placed in 2011 by Garuda Indonesia for 15 A320ceo and 10 A320neo aircraft for operation by Citilink.

Lufthansa Group has firmed up a previous Supervisory Board decision from March this year and signed for 100 A320 Family aircraft (35 A320neo, 35 A321neo and 30 A320ceo with Sharklets). The Lufthansa Group has been operating the A320 Family since October 1989, and was the launch customer for the A321, and belonged to the first operators of the A319 and A320.

Indonesia’s Lion Air has placed a firm order with Airbus for 234 A320 Family aircraft, comprising 109 A320neo, 65 A321neo and 60 A320ceo. The deal sees the carrier become a new customer for Airbus. In a single class layout the A320 can seat up to 180 passengers, while the A321 can carry up to 236 with the latest cabin configuration options.
24. Spirit Airlines Selects PurePower and V2500 Engines for 75 Airbus Aircraft
Spirit Airlines has selected Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1100G-JM engines to power its order of 45 firm A320neo aircraft. Spirit has also selected International Aero Engines’ (IAE) V2500 engine to power its order for 30 firm A320ceo aircraft.
