51. Hawaiian to Increase Capacity Between Sydney and Honolulu
Hawaiian Airlines will upgrade its daily flights on the Sydney-Honolulu route to new, larger Airbus A330-200 aircraft from Wednesday, 25 April 2012, almost one month earlier than planned. The wide-body, twin-aisle A330s seat 294 passengers in a two-class cabin, 30 more than the Boeing 767-300ER aircraft which Hawaiian currently uses on the route.
52. Hotel on Kamala Beach to Rebrand as a Swissôtel
Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts is about to add its first property in Phuket to its portfolio. The international hotel group has been appointed the manager of the existing Courtyard by Marriott at Kamala Beach, which will be re-branded as Swissôtel Resort Phuket on 1 April 2012. This will be the group’s third property in Thailand and its first resort property in Southeast Asia.
53. IATA Reports Global Airlines Traffic from April 2012
Despite continuing economic weakness in some parts of the world, demand for air travel continues to grow. The 6.1% overall growth recorded for April is above the 20-year trend. Strong demand for air travel with limited capacity expansion pushed load factors to 79.3% which is a record high for an April load factor.
54. Hotel Rates Set New Year-On-Year Growth Record
According to data in The Pegasus View by Pegasus Solutions, hotel ADR continued a northward trend in April 2012, realizing record or near-record growth margins over rates paid in 2011. North American corporate hotel rates set a new year-on-year growth record, increasing +9.3% over 2011, beating a previous record of +7.1% set in February by more than two percentage points.
55. Oakwood Completes ExecuStay Acquisition
Oakwood has completed the transaction to acquire the ExecuStay corporate housing brand from Marriott International. On 16 April 2012, Oakwood revealed that it had signed an agreement to acquire ExecuStay. Financial terms were not disclosed.
56. Etihad Signs Accounting Outsourcing Deal with Kale Consultants
Etihad Airways has confirmed that it will outsource the accounting of passenger and cargo revenues to aviation accountancy specialist Kale Consultants Ltd. from April, 2012. Kale Consultants employs more than 1,500 people and has more than 100 aviation industry clients in over 30 countries.
