In a
strenuous effort to save the rich cultural heritage of Indonesia and to
keep its history alive within its people, a nostalgic retreat destination
that is a cross between museum, gallery and private residence has been
built in Canggu Beach, in the island of Bali.
Some of the thousands of antiques that represent the rich cultural
heritage of Indonesia had been left and forgotten in the thickness of
dust, in the cramp of unused rooms, and away from the vision of human
beings. Some had been flown out of the country, and had become of many
galleries' collection around the globe. Few are still inside a country
that is currently trying to wither an economic turmoil, worst in its
history. These remains from the past are becoming more than just priceless
antiques or treasures… they represent the rich history of the country and
they, sad but true, are rapidly disappearing from the corner of our eyes.
It is the mission of the only museum boutique hotel in Indonesia, Hotel
Tugu Bali, to be the home of some of the remaining artworks of Indonesia’s
history with a commitment to keep the past alive and to keep Indonesian
antiques from vanishing. A symbol of harmony between the ancient Peranakan
(Indonesian Chinese) and the indigenous Indonesian is displayed in Bale
Sutra, a 1706 Chinese temple that was reconstructed in one of the wings of
the hotel, to commemorate Balinese heroes who had given their lives for
the people.
Tugu Bali commemorates the forgotten history and heritage of Bali, while
offering all the exceptional hospitality, excellent personalized services,
luxury and romantic amenities that result from our attention to details.
