Etihad Airways has unveiled plans to expand its network in China with daily non-stop, return services between Abu Dhabi and Shanghai subject to government approval. The new flights, scheduled to commence on 1 March 2012, will make Shanghai the airline's 70th global destination.

Etihad Airways is to launch flights to Chengdu in southwest China from 15 December 2011 subject to government approval. Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province and the airlines 69th destination, will be connected to the airlines hub and home base in Abu Dhabi by four non-stop return services per week.
